Woollaston Estates is Simmer's First Represented New Zealand Winery
Woollaston Estates produce high quality, distinctive wines in
Nelson, New Zealand. A gentle and natural approach is taken when growing grapes
and making wine to allow the fruit to fully express varietal characters and the
place in which it was grown. The vineyards and winery are certified as
sustainable by Sustainable Winegrowing
New Zealand, and organic and biodynamic practices are being introduced.
Woollaston Estates offers three tiers of wines. The entry level
Wingspan series named after the protected Harrier Hawks that
soar above the vineyards in summer, scaring away small birds attracted to the
ripening fruit on the vines and the series produces a Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot
Noir.
The middle tier Tussock series is named after the
native New Zealand grass that grows on the roof of the winery, and offers an
excellent quality, mid-priced alternative to the Woollaston brand. The wineries
‘living roof’ built into the hillside over four levels blends the building into
the surrounding landscape. The series offers a Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris,
Pinot Noir and a Pinot Rose.
The top tier Woollaston series are the product of the soil, the vines, the
climate and their people. The fingerprint on the label represents the
contribution that each employee makes towards creating the best possible wine. The
colour bars under the logo represent our soils, vines and climate - the
beginnings of great wine. The series has a Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Pinot
Gris, Pinot Noir and a Pinot Rose.
Simmer Fine Wine
& Spirits is honoured to represent Woollaston
Estates and selected wines will be available in our marketplace in
August. For further details please visit our Portfolio web page and theWoollaston

California Wineries Hayes Ranch & Murrieta's Well Join Simmer
Hayes Ranchand Murrieta's Well wineries
both part of the Wente Family Estates
group which has more than 125 years of winemaking history are both located in
the California's Livermore valley. They are now represented in Alberta and
British Columbia by Simmer and will be available in August.
Hayes Ranch produces “California Wines with a Western Spirit”. The Hayes family
was a true Californian ranching family whose livelihood depended on the land. The
winemaker Brad Buehler carries on the Hayes family tradition by crafting
bright, delicious wines from premier California vineyards. They are created
with a rancher's pride, from excellent quality grapes for your enjoyment and
are an excellent value. The wine line-up includes a “Best Foot Forward
Chardonnay”, an “in the Saddle Cabernet” and a “Lucky Horseshoe Merlot”.
Award-winning Murrieta’s Well winery is defined by
its distinctive blended wines, stunning location, and a rich heritage that
began in California’s Gold Rush era. In 1990, fourth generation winemaker
Philip Wente and winemaker Sergio Traverso merged old and new winemaking
styles, reviving the historic winery originally established by Livermore
Pioneer Louis Mel.
The blends
handcrafted in both French and Spanish tradition. Murrieta’s Well Red Meritage
and White Meritage are Bordeaux style blends. Zarzuela, a blend of Spanish and
Portuguese varietals, is modeled after the famous Spanish wines of Ribera del Duero
and Rioja. Estate grown, old-vine Zinfandel from the renowned Raboli Vineyard, and
small-lot Los Tesoros de Joaquin wines round out the exclusive portfolio.
Simmer Fine Wine
& Spirits is very excited about bringing these two product lines to our
marketplace. For further details please visit our Portfolio web page and the Hayes
Ranch and Murrieta’s Well web
sites.
